PROVENANCE - The oil painting of Elton John which was painted by Christopher Jimenez, when he lived in Montpelier Square, London. Elton did not take delivery from the artist so Alan Judd, who lived nearby in Montpelier Street, bought the oil painting in circa 1979 and other oils directly from the artist when Christopher was having coffee in Alan’s house.
The painting depicts Elton in a humorous and eclectic period when he was also the owner of Watford Football Club, Christopher Jimenez was always focused on painting wildlife and in particular the great male lion/leopard. Which is why a leopard is situated on Elton’s piano.
The combination of Elton in comic form and Chris’s love for wildlife creates this unique oil painting which has been in Alan’s private ownership for 40 years, it seems opportune to offer the painting for the first time to a serious buyer who loves the bizarre world of Elton’s life and amazing music and at the time of Elton’s new film, Rocketman.
